About the credentials

  • Who is AIP for?
AIP is for any non-technical professional whose work involves using AI tools. Marketers, analysts, operators, managers, customer-facing teams — if you use AI at work and want to prove you do it well, AIP is the right starting point.
  • How is CAIP different from AIP?
AIP validates that you can use AI tools well. CAIP validates that you can lead with them — designing AI-augmented workflows, configuring agents, and shaping organizational adoption. CAIP requires AIP plus 12 months of substantive AI experience.
  • Are these certifications technical?
No. We do not test you on machine-learning theory, math, or coding. We test scenario judgment, prompt and workflow technique, agent management, and AI strategy at the level a non-technical practitioner needs.

Exams & scheduling

  • How are exams delivered?
Both exams are delivered online through our proctoring partner. You can schedule any time, day or night, with about 48 hours of lead time.
  • What does an exam cost?
AIP is $397 ($297 for members). CAIP is $747 ($597 for members). Annual membership is $197 — it pays for itself the first time you sit an exam.
  • How long are credentials valid?
Two years from the date you pass. You can renew via continuing education or by re-taking the current exam.

Membership

  • Do I need to be a member to take an exam?
No. You can sit either exam without membership. Members get $100 off each exam, plus the talent-directory listing and member resources.
  • What does membership actually include?
Exam discounts, talent-directory listing, the member-only resource library, the quarterly practitioner report, and early access to new credentials.

Verification

  • How do employers verify my credential?
Every credential gets a unique verification URL on aiskillsnetwork.org/verify. Employers can confirm name, credential, and validity instantly. No login required.
  • Can I share my credential on LinkedIn?
Yes. Passing either exam unlocks a LinkedIn-shareable digital badge.
